Sale Malva sylvestris in 14 cm pot, commonly known as wild mallow or common mallow, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Malvaceae family. Wild mallow is an upright aromatic plant that usually grows to a height of between 60 and 120 centimetres. Its stems are pubescent (covered with short hairs) and slightly angled. The leaves of Malva sylvestris are palmate and lobed, with serrated margins. They are dark green in color and covered in small soft hairs that give them a velvety texture. Wild mallow flowers are large and showy. They are usually pink-mauve or purple in color, but can range from light to more intense shades. Each flower has five petals and a central structure composed of stamens and pistils. The flowers are borne on long stems and appear in clusters along the stem. Malva sylvestris blooms during spring and summer, with abundant and prolonged blooms. Its flowers attract pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies. This plant is common in Europe and other temperate regions of the world. It often grows in sunny areas, lawns, roadsides and disturbed soil. It is a hardy plant that can tolerate a variety of growing conditions. Wild mallow has traditionally been used for medicinal purposes, particularly to soothe skin irritations and respiratory problems. The young leaves and flowers can be eaten raw in salads or cooked as a vegetable. Furthermore, the flowers are used to prepare herbal teas. Malva sylvestris is a hardy plant that grows well in well-drained and sunny or partially shaded soil. It can self-seed easily and is considered a wild herb in some areas.
