Salvia lycioides for sale in 14 cm pot, commonly known as Chia Sage or Desert Sage, is a perennial plant native to the desert regions of the southwestern United States and Mexico. Salvia lycioides is characterized by a shrubby habit, usually growing to a height of about 60-90 cm. The leaves are small, narrow and green-grey in color, often covered with fine hairs. The tubular flowers are lilac-blue in color and appear along tall stems during the flowering season, from spring to autumn. The plant exudes a light and pleasant scent. Salvia lycioides is suitable for hot, dry climates. Prefers well-drained soil and full sun. It is quite drought tolerant once established. The leaves can be used in cooking, although to a lesser extent than other sage species.
